Nutty Chocolate Truffles

Cooking with chocolates adds up an extra appeal to any meal. A small piece of chocolate is enough to satisfy a craving but a chocoholic will still find it difficult. This recipe is for all chocoholics like me and is perfect to cheer or impress your friends and relatives. I always have leftovers in my kitchen when I bake cakes and cookies. I decided to make some truffles out of the left overs of one such baking day. I had small batches of nuts, dark cooking chocolate and milk biscuits, so I decided to combine all these together to make truffles. Truffles can be made with cake crumbs and cracker crumbs too. Truffles are a good option for quick hassle free chocolates for any time. This recipe makes about 15-17 truffles.

Ingredients:-

  • Chocolate – 125-150 grams.
  • Butter – 1 Tablespoon.
  • Condensed milk – 2 Tablespoon.
  • Desiccated Coconut – 50 grams.
  • Biscuit crumbs- 100 grams approx.
  • Icing Sugar – 6 Tablespoons
  • Cocoa powder – 2 Tablespoons.
  • Nuts – few. (Cashews, pistachios, almonds…..any nuts as per choice).
  • Vanilla essence – 1 Teaspoon.

Method:-

  1. Take chocolate pieces and butter in a bowl. Melt this over a pan of gently simmering water.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the biscuit crumbs, vanilla and the condensed milk until combined well.
  3. Add the nuts, desiccated coconut and icing sugar to the mixture and mix until lightly stiff. (Reserve a little icing sugar and desiccated coconut for dusting the chocolate balls).
  4. Roll the mixture into small balls and place them on a sheet of aluminium foil. Chill till firm.
  5. Rolls half of the balls into icing sugar until thoroughly coated and half with the coconut.Chill and serve.
